“ "fascinating, incredible, marvelous, prodigious, and shocking" That's what went through my mind the instant the food initiated contact with my taste buds. I landed today from my visit abroad from the incan ruins in where i was studying the ancient and rich history of peruvian cuisine and i came back and got came straight to this fine institution. As i sat waiting for my food i reflected on my years in the culinary pool studying in some of the finest institutions in the globe such as harvard, oxford, yale and most notably suffolk university, i realized that one day i may have to retire my glorious name, but today was not that day. as i laid eyes on the dish in front of me i was quickly put into tears remembering how fond and loving my relationship with taste is. This institution is amongst the finest i have been too and as a former michilan star winner. i would like to say my regards to this restaurant... Godspeed, and may we meet again. ”
“ Nice upscale ambiance, nice cocktails, yummy food. We split a ceviche clasico, lomo saltado, and seafood chuafa. ”
“ What an interesting experience. There were 2 of us, and for some reason every restaurant we tried that night was closed, shut down, had a broken air conditioner, etc. That's how we stumbled upon Jalea! The food was very good, we were the only folks in the joint, and the service was so nice. We ended up chatting with our server a bit. ”
“ Wanted to try out the local Peruvian spot and the food was great. Ordered a jalita, some ceviche, maduros, white rice, and wifey got a margarita. Everything tasted great. But I will say the place is pricier than expected. The jalita was a really small portion and that was $15. The ceviche was like $30. Bowl of rice was $8. Aside from price, the food was really tasty. Wifey loved the ceviche and I was impressed by the jalita. I most likely won't order rice again, especially not for $8. Service was fine. Place was small but was seated right away. ”
“ My parents recommended this Peruvian restaurant. I was in the area and decided to try it out. When I arrived; the restaurant was empty so we were seated quickly. They have a full bar and the ambiance is elegant and dimmed down. We ordered two passion fruit pisco sour drinks which were strong and sweet and delicious. We order a jalea to share which was absolutely delicious. It had fried calamari, fried fish, fried shrimp and only one fried mussel. The waiter was nice enough to bring us two more fried mussels since my boyfriend wasn't able to try it. The fried seafood came with a beautiful side of sliced red onion, cilantro, lemon and tomato mixture that paired great. For the entrees, we ordered arroz chaufa mixta and a variation of ceviches. The arroz chaufa was enough to feed two people and had steak and chicken. It was honestly one of the best arroz chaufa I have ever had; the chicken was tender and the steak had great flavor. The rice was also cooked perfectly and fluffy. The ceviches were also super refreshing; they all varied in spiciness which was satisfying. It had a great balance of spice, lemon and seafood. I would definitely recommend if you are in the Hicksville area. I will be returning to try other things on their menu and to have their drinks. ”
